This Day

I loved You yesterday.
I’ll love You through eternity.
But most of all help me this day
To love You fervently.

I loved You when I was young.
I’ll love You when I am old.
But most of all help me this day
To love You more than life or gold.

I loved you when my eyes were bright.
I’ll love You when they grow dim.
But most of all help me this day
To love You with vigor and vim.

For it’s not what I did once
Or what I’ll do someday
But what’s important most of all
Is how I live this day.”
