NEWSLETTER ARCHIVE

Good Morning Church Family,

What a cold day this is. We seem to be in a deep "Arctic freeze." Despite the cold and wind chills, we had some good services yesterday. We had thought about canceling church last night, but I'm glad we didn't. We had a wonderful service. Everyone that was there was blessed. If you want to hear a good message on how to deal with your doubts, go to our website tomorrow night and click on the "Sermons" link. You will see the Sunday night sermon at the top of the list. Also, a special thanks to Ann Downing for a wonderful concert on Sunday morning. She shared from her heart and her music touched our lives in many different ways. I heard tell my picture was going to be on her website this week. She said I'm the only pastor that has ever gone out and pulled her car up to the door in the cold. I was glad to do it and she was very grateful.

This morning I want to talk to you about fear for a little bit. Fear's purpose is to prevent you from knowing what the possibilities are in life. Throughout God's Word we are given the admonition to "fear not." We are told not to fear our situations or what man can do, but to trust in God. Many Believers are paralyzed by fear, failure, uncertainty, or the mere possibility of a negative outcome. God's countermeasure for fear is faith. Faith transcends how things appear and is established on the truth of God's Word. If you are afraid to take the first step, then you can never reach what lies ahead for you. The Bible declares: "God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind." (2 Timothy 1:7, KJV)

Fear is not something that God has given, but something that is received in the absence of faith. God instead has provided us with His Spirit and love which maintains and preserves our peace - or sound mind. That is my prayer for each of you this week. Walk in faith, for faith sees the invisible, believes the incredible, and receives the impossible.

Till next time, Pastor Don

P.S. Next Sunday someone in our congregation will be receiving the Distinguished Service Award. You'll have to be there to see who this special person is!

Also, don't forget the Senior's Valentines Luncheon Thursday at noon in the Fellowship Hall.
