NEWSLETTER ARCHIVE

Good Morning Everyone,

Let me begin with a SHOPPING ALERT this morning. You have less than ONE day to get your Christmas shopping done. I would suggest you get with the program immediately. Secondly, let me give you a couple corny Christmas Jokes: What do you get if you deep fry Santa Claus? Krisp Kringle. Also, did you know that Good King Wenceslas phoned for pizza? The pizza man asked him, "Do you wnat your usual? Deep pan, crisp and even?" As you can see I'm a little off the wall today.

We actually had wonderful services yesterday. I was glad for good attendance and that everyone didn't get blown away. We heard two good messages from myself and Pastor June, enjoyed our children's choir sing, and had a great day worshiping God.

A while back in a Christian magazine there was a cartoon of a little girl with a birthday hat on standing in the middle of a sea of gaudy Christmas decorations. The dejected looking little girl says, "You know, when your birthday comes at Christmas time, people just forget all about it." Standing behind the little girl, looking equally sad, is Jesus. "Tell me about it," he says.

Just like the little girl in the cartoon, Jesus' birthday is all too often forgotten about because of Christmas. How ironic! What started out as an observance of His birth has somehow turned into decorations, parties, shopping, songs about decking halls and jingling bells, Frosty the Snowman, and some vague acknowledgment of peace on earth and good will among men. The real meaning of Christmas is remembering the greatest and most costly gift ever given. I encourage you to remember the awe and wonder of this child. He was the only child who ever chose to be born. And He also chose to give up His life for you and for me. That's what Christmas is all about. Let's purpose in our hearts that this year we won't get so caught up in Christmas that we forget Jesus' birthday.

On behalf of all the South Flint Staff, we wish you all a blessed Christmas and a most wonderful new year. Till next time, Pastor Don

P.S. Don't forget the church office will be closed Monday and Tuesday this week.
