Good Morning Church Family,
Greetings on this Monday morning. May the Lord
shine his love down on each of you today! I was
grieved to read yesterday of two church-related
shootings in Colorado. How terrible that you
cannot feel safe coming to the house of the
Lord. I thank God for His protection and
blessings each Sunday. We had a good crowd
yesterday morning and several people seeking God
at the altar at the close of the morning
service. Sunday night we had 80 for the
Christmas dinner and 107 attended the Christmas
Concert. It was wonderful to have Mark
Pennington share his musical talent with us and
to have his wife, Beth, share her passion for
helping people get past their past. I hope the
Christmas Dinner Concert will be an annual
tradition at our church.
You all know this is the Christmas season and I
am feeling my belt getting tighter already.
Maybe I've added an inch or so. When I stand up
it's tolerable, but when I sit down I feel the
pressure, and it's a little more uncomfortable.
It kind of reminds me of Ephesians Chapter 6
where Paul says, "Stand firm with the belt of
truth buckled around your waist." I have felt
that belt of truth around me many times,
especially when I fudge the truth, compromise a
promise, or am not totally honest with someone.
That is God the Holy Spirit working in our
lives. We need to wear our own belt to hold our
pants up, but more importantly, we always need
God's belt of truth every day for it's a part of
God's armor to combat Satan. Satan is a liar and
truth will defeat him every time. Unless we
practice the truth, we cannot use the Word of
Truth. I also think the belt of truth speaks of
knowing the truth and being grounded in the
truth. My prayer for you this week is that God
will help each of us to walk daily in the truth.
It's absolutely the best way to live. Have a
grand day.
Till next time, Pastor Don
P.S. Don't forget this Sunday is a combined
service with the Children's Christmas Program
beginning at 10:30am.
Calling all Ushers: We need your presence
Wednesday at 6pm for an ushers' meeting held in
Gary Burton's Sunday School Room.
P.S.S. I am grateful for Mark & Beth blessing us
with a special evening Sunday night. Below is a
picture of the Penningtons from last night.
