Good Morning Everyone,
It's a great day in the Lord and a great day to
be alive. As the choir sang yesterday, "Every
Day is Thanksgiving." I hope as children of God
we won't forget that. The whole weekend for me
was a wonderful worship experience. I really
enjoyed the Harvest Dinner and the good
fellowship on Saturday night. Thank you, Dave
Bristle, for sharing your story. Truly God
received all the glory as you spoke to us. You
are an amazing trophy of God's grace! Sunday
morning we had a great worship experience. It
was good to have my mother and father with me
for the weekend. I enjoyed Susan's special song,
"My Help." It was right out of Psalm 121. I hope
you enjoyed the message, "The Thanksgiving That
Doesn't Count." It will be available on our
website this evening. Sunday night our church
dismissed to hear the gospel singing group "Gold
City" at Central Church of the Nazarene. They
gave a tremendous concert and everyone who was
there was blessed.
For a thought this morning, I leave you with
Ephesians 5:20 which says, "Always giving thanks
to God the Father for everything, in the name of
our Lord Jesus Christ." What I am thinking about
this morning is that little phrase that says,
"give thanks for everything." I guess anyone can
be thankful for sunshine, but what about the
storms of life? It's a little harder isn't it?
In fact, in our own strength we could never keep
this command. Can we really be thankful for
suffering, disappointments, and even
bereavement? I believe when a Christian finds
himself or herself in a difficult situation, he
or she should immediately give thanks to the
Father, in the name of Jesus Christ. I say that
because the devil moves in whenever a Christian
starts complaining, but giving thanks in the
Spirit defeats the devil and glorifies the Lord.
Just for your information, the word "gratitude"
comes from the same root word as "grace." That
tells me that if we have experienced the grace
of God then we ought to be grateful for what God
brings to us. It makes sense to me this morning.
My prayer is for an attitude of gratitude this
thanksgiving season. May you be blessed by the
Lord during this special thanksgiving season.
Till next time, Pastor Don
P.S. Don't forget that there will be no
Wednesday night services at our church this week
due to the fact that Wednesday is Thanksgiving
Eve. There will be a Community Thanksgiving Eve
Service on Wednesday night at Holy Redeemer
Catholic Church on Bristle Rd. right next to
I-475 starting at 7pm.
Next Sunday night we will be having a Taco Fund
Raiser following the evening service to help
raise money to send our kids and teens to church
camp. Everyone is invited. Tacos will be $1
each.
