Good Morning Everyone,

Greetings on this Monday morning and on the first day of the new work week. We have been having some beautiful weather here in Burton. What a great day we had at South Flint yesterday. Attendance was up with 175 worshiping this week. I want to thank the choir for sharing the powerful song, "We Shall See Jesus." Great job, choir! Also thanks to all the family members who came to the special Memorial Roll service. It was great to honor and to consider the lives and influence of those who have passed on to glory this last year. And one more "thank you" to the ladies' committee in the kitchen that prepared a wonderful meal for all of us to eat.

Sunday night found us at Central Church of the Nazarene for a wonderful concert with Allison Speer. Just ask any of our church family who were there and they will tell you what a blessing and joy it was. Thanks, Allison.

This morning I want to share just a thought about influence. I was thinking how Jesus said in Matthew Chapter 5 that we are the salt of the earth and also the light of the world. Do you think we have influence? One day a mother was shopping with her young son. After 4 or 5 hours, she was making her final purchase at the last store. The clerk at the register handed the little boy a lollipop. "What do you say?" the mother said to the boy, to which he replied, "Just put it on my credit card!" Like it or not, that mom had influenced that little boy by her actions through the day.

Another mother was taking her little boy to school, since the dad had to go to work early. The little boy kept looking around on the way to school. Halfway there, the little boy said, "Mom, where are the idiots?" "What do you mean?" "Well," said the little boy, "usually Dad and I see at least three or four idiots on the way to school." Whether it’s over your kids, or your co-workers, your family or your friends, YOU have influence. The question is, what direction is your influence leading people? Think about that with me today and then ask God to help you be the best influence you possibly can. I say this in closing -- "A real relationship with God will make all the difference in the world." Have a wonderful week serving Jesus.

Till next time, Pastor Don

P.S. This Wednesday night we will continue our study of the Book of Job. If you will read through chapter 5 you will be better prepared.

P.S.S. Joke of the Week:

One Sunday morning the preacher stood at the pulpit and only preached about 10 minutes. He finished and then explained that his dog at home had eaten a good part of his sermon and what he had left is what he delivered. After the service a visitor walked up to the pastor, shook his hand and said, "Pastor, I would like to know if that dog of yours has any pups. If so, I want to get one to give to my pastor."
