NEWSLETTER ARCHIVE

Good Morning Church,

As you are reading this email, I am probably at the hospital with Mike and Ruth Leach and their two daughters. Ruth had her surgery at 7:30am. I will keep you posted as to the outcome. Andrew is sending this out for me. What a great day we had in the Lord! Our attendance wasn't super, but we did have 147 in morning worship. It was a joy to preach on "Facing Your Giants." I've heard from a number of people how the message spoke to their hearts. I hope that all you seniors enjoy your color tour today, the pizza buffet, and the homemade ice cream at the dairy farm. Wish I could be there with you.

For a thought this morning I want to talk about homesickness. David said in Psalm 23:6, "I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever." Where will you live forever? In the house of the Lord. So what does that make your present house? Temporary accommodations. This explains the homesickness you’ve felt ever since a loved one died, you learned about the lump in your breast, or the spot on your lung, or when your family fell apart. The twists and turns of life have a way of reminding us – this world is not our home. We aren’t fluent in its language. This culture confuses our heart. Its stress disrupts our sleep. It promises much but delivers little.

Praise God, I'm looking for a city not made with human hands. God never said the journey would be easy, but He did say the arrival would be wonderful! So trust Him. He’ll get you home, Church. Soon the trials of the trip will be forgotten as we sit around the table with the Lord and enjoy the feast. I can live with that.

Till next time. Pastor Don

P.S. Next Sunday is Memorial Roll Sunday and we will be honoring all those who have served the Lord faithfully and passed on into God's kingdom this past year. There will be no Sunday night service as we will be going to Central Nazarene to hear Allison Durham Speer in concert at 6pm. Hope to see you there.

P.S.S. Joke of the Week:

A PATIENT WAS WAITING NERVOUSLY IN THE EXAMINATION ROOM TO SEE A FAMOUS SPECIALIST.

"SO WHO DID YOU SEE BEFORE COMING TO ME?" ASKED THE SPECIALIST.

"MY LOCAL GENERAL PRACTITIONER" REPLIED THE PATIENT.

"YOUR GP?" SCOFFED THE SPECIALIST. "WHAT A WASTE OF TIME. TELL ME, WHAT SORT OF USELESS ADVICE DID HE GIVE YOU?"

"HE TOLD ME TO COME AND SEE YOU."
