Good Morning South Flint Nazarenes,

It's the first day of October and I especially love this time of the year. God gave our men some wonderful weather for our Men's Retreat this past weekend. There were 13 of us in attendance and we had a great time enjoying fellowship, doing men's things, and drawing closer to God. I don't think any of the men that attended will ever be the same. I know your pastor won't. A special thanks to Rev. Larry Crum for being our special speaker and challenging each of us. I can't wait for next year's retreat.

I also wanted to thank Pastor June for filling in for me on Sunday morning. I heard her message challenged each of us to take time for God and the things that are important. Her message will be up on our website some time tonight if you would like to listen to it.

I want to give you just a thought from Psalms this morning. "Whoever of you loves life and desires to see many good days, keep your tongue from evil and your lips from speaking lies." (Psalm 34:12-13) It sounds like a simple scripture to keep, but evidently it isn't if the instruction has to be given to us by God. Changing what comes from your mouth can be challenging and not always easy, but you have to do it if you want to see good days.
The scripture seems to say that if you love death, you speak evil and tell lies. If you want to live long, happy, and healthy, speak good things and don't be a part of falsehood.

Here is what I want you to think about this week -- What kind of words come out of my mouth? Am I speaking life or am I speaking death? And finally, are the words in my mouth and the thoughts in my mind pleasing to God? Those questions will always help keep you on track. Have a great week.

Till next time, Pastor Don

P.S. Please keep the Cross family in your prayers during this very difficult time dealing with the loss of their son, Dr. Michael Cross. They truly need our prayer support.

This Sunday starts our fall Revival Campaign with Rev. Jerry & Barbara Roach. Please be in prayer, set aside time to attend all 5 services, and support this Revival with an offering to help us pay our evangelists.
