Good Morning Church Family,
I hope you are having a good week in the Lord.
It's always a privilege to greet you and send
out words of encouragement. We have been staying
busy and there is a lot going on at the Lord's
house. We had 155 yesterday for which this
pastor is grateful. Our theme for the month will
be Revival. We will be preaching messages on
"Revival" right up until our fall Revival starts
in October. Both Sunday's messages were on, "The
Humility that brings Revival." Thanks to Pastor
Karren for conducting an Altar Workers class
last night. There was a good turn out and lots
of practical counsel and wisdom was given.
This morning let's talk about improving your
prayer life. All prayer is full of promise and
potential. It is our most powerful weapon, but
the effectiveness depends on the dedication and
the skill of the user. It is a fact that not
everybody has the same effectiveness in prayer.
I think of how the disciples asked Jesus to
teach them to pray like John taught his
disciples. There was something about Jesus'
praying that created a yearning in the
disciples' hearts to understand how to pray.
Hebrews 5:7 gives us a lot of insight into how
Jesus prayed. "During the days of Jesus' life on
earth, He offered up prayers and petitions with
loud cries and tears to the one who could save
him from death, and He was heard because of His
reverent submission." I believe this is probably
in reference to the praying Jesus did in
Gethsemane. I also believe it is probably the
kind of praying He did in the wilderness during
the 40 days he was locked in conflict with
Lucifer. One translation says Jesus prayed with
mighty outcries. Phillips translation says in
desperate prayer and the agony of tears.
This morning my prayer is, "Lord, teach us to
pray." Not when we're just in an emergency or
just need something, but boldly and strongly
tilting our head toward heaven and lifting a cry
that comes from the depth of our soul. May our
prayers be the prevailing kind that overcome and
produce miracles. From one prayer learner to
another.
Till next time, Pastor Don
P.S. Tonight at 7pm we will begin Revival Prayer
Time right up till fall revival starts. Your
pastor hopes to see you there whether it is for
15 minutes or for an hour.
Friday night at 6:30pm we have our Women's
Ministries Tea Party in the fellowship hall. All
ladies are invited for a time of fellowship and
refreshments.
P.S.S. JOKE OF THE WEEK: THE I.R.S.
A pastor of a church was sitting in his office
when the phone rang.
"Hello Reverend, this is the Internal Revenue
Service calling. Do you have a John Timmons who
attends there? "
"Why yes," the pastor replied.
"Well our question is, Did he recently make a
$25,000 donation to your church?"
The pastor replied, "That I don't know, but I
can tell you this, he will."
