Good Morning Everyone,
This is our last big holiday weekend. Many of
you will be spending the day with family and
friends. I hope you have a real good time and
are refreshed. We just need to get away from
time to time.
Your pastor was delighted to have you in the
services yesterday. A special thanks to Jonathan
Hudson and his friends that came to minister to
us last night. They are some of the men who play
on our church softball team. They are regular
attendees of South Flint Tabernacle. It was such
a blessing to hear them sing and preach and
share the love of God with us.
I was reading a story a while back about a
certain businessman in England. Several years
ago he was summoned by Queen Elizabeth to be one
of the country's ambassadors. He expressed his
delight and appreciation for the honor, but
politely told the queen he couldn't leave his
own business and travel extensively for his
business would surely fail. Now this is the part
that caught my attention. The queen said, "You
take care of England's business and England will
take care of yours." He took the queen at her
word and took the ambassadorship position for
two years. After his tenure of service, the man
returned to find that his business had doubled
in size and had done extremely well.
Let me ask this morning, what if you were given
the same offer? Well, you have been. My
scripture verse for the day is II Corinthians
5:20 "We are ambassadors for Christ, as though
God were entreating through us." We are
literally ambassadors for Christ, and God has
given us the privilege of attending to His
business. He, in turn, will take care of us and
the things that are important to us. When we are
faithful to God and put Him first, that makes
God obligated to keep his promises, take care of
us, and be faithful to us. That sounds like a
good deal to me. However, God has no obligation
to anyone who neglects His business in pursuit
of his or her own. As long as we have our
priorities right, we have an unfailing guarantee
of success from God's Word. Proverbs 16:3 in the
Living Bible says, "Commit your work to the
Lord, then it will succeed." Praise His Name!!!
In closing, "Dear Father, help me to find
balance between taking care of business and
being Your ambassador."
Till next time, let's represent our Father
well..............Pastor Don
