Good Morning Church Family,
Monday is here and as usual, your pastor wants
to send you out some greetings for the week. We
enjoyed the Lord's presence yesterday. Both
services were a blessing because of good
spirit-filled music, Bible-based messages from
God's Word, and wonderful testimonies. Thanks
for being a part and participating in worship.
It is an encouragement to your pastor.
My thought for the week is taken from Ephesians
5:18 which says, "Do not get drunk on wine . . .
instead be filled with the Spirit." I was
thinking that a drunk man doesn't get that way
by just talking about alcohol. He gets drunk by
drinking. And the more he drinks, the more the
alcohol controls him. We say he's "under the
influence." A power takes over which transforms
him into someone he was not before.
The man who is drinking is possessed by the
alcohol. The man who is Spirit-filled is
possessed by the Spirit. What alcohol is to your
body negatively, the Holy Spirit is to your new
life positively. When we are under His control,
He makes us walk in ways you wouldn't normally
walk, and talk in ways you wouldn't normally
talk. When you are drunk, you lose self-control,
but when you are Spirit-filled you gain
self-controlled. God's command on this Monday
morning is "be Spirit-filled." It literally
means be Spirit controlled, and also means keep
on being filled.
One word of caution in closing: Those under the
influence of the Holy Spirit will not be
offensive, rude, or self-serving. The Holy
Spirit is a gentleman. The power He provides is
controlled and channeled towards a life that is
not possible by any other means. On August 20,
2007 that power is available to each of you. Ask
God for it. It is His will to give it to you.
Until next time, Keep Being Filled.

P.S. Keep Mary Goddard in your prayers as her
