NEWSLETTER ARCHIVE

Good Morning Everyone,

I greet you in the name of Jesus. I'm standing on the Solid Rock and praise God for a sure foundation in Him. We had good services yesterday. It was a joy to dedicate Hailey Marie Bristle to the Lord. Mom and dad made a vow that to the best of their ability, they will raise her in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. I also felt the help of the Lord in preaching to you Sunday morning. What a great message on what genuine, passionate worship will do for you. If you want to hear it, check out our website later tonight.

Thank you, Pastor Sarah Brackenridge, for preaching and sharing on Sunday night. It was a great teaching lesson on cults, false doctrine, and holding to the truth of God's Word. God bless you for sharing truth with your church family.

This morning, I leave you with one verse of scripture. II Corinthians 5:11 says, "Knowing the terror of the Lord, we persuade men." I read a story recently about a pastor in inner city Los Angeles. One evening across the street from his church there was a drive by shooting and a young man was killed. That evening in the Wednesday night service the pastor took up a love offering for the family across the street. The next morning he crossed the street and knocked on the door of a somewhat run down house. A big gang member type guy with plenty of tattoos came to the door and opened it. He said, "I'm the new pastor from the church across the street and I'm here to help your family. We took an offering last night and we want you to know that we care." The man said, "You're the craziest white man I know," but he reluctantly let him in. He found the boy's mother in anguish and crying in the living room. The pastor gave her the money, said a few words and began to leave. Suddenly, a huge gang member grabbed his arm, spun him around and said, "Will you stay and pray for us?" They joined hands in a circle and the pastor prayed, "Lord, I pray for this family in their time of loss. I also pray that because of this tragedy, not one of these young men will be in the gangs anymore, and that they'll come to know You." As he prayed, the grip of the hands tightened and you just knew God was there doing His work.

My question today is, who needs you to cross the street for them? Who could use a friend? Who needs your prayer support? Since we know about the terror of the Lord, we must do our part to persuade men. Will you do it this week? My thought is, "You're a Christian today because somebody cared. Now it's your turn."

Till next time, Pastor Don

P.S. Don't forget Missionary Council Meeting, Thursday night at 7pm at the church.

P.S.S. JOKE OF THE WEEK:

Sheldon was a new butcher fresh out of trade school who needed a job. He finally got a job in Canada skinning and cutting up the kills of local hunters. The first project he gets is to cut up a moose to put in the freezer. Sheldon finally gets the moose cut up and is putting it into bags and marking them carefully with the contents: chops, rump steak, ribs, sirloin, etc. When he finishes with the stuff he knows, he is still left with a pile of unidentifiable moose parts. At a loss as to what to do with them, he finally puts them all into one large bag and labels them . . . . . . . . . . . . . . "Moosellaneous."
