NEWSLETTER ARCHIVE

Good Morning Church,

It's great to be alive today and to serve Jesus. Most of you know that yesterday was Father's Day, and we had a great time honoring the dads at South Flint Nazarene. I was blessed to see many fathers come forward at the end of the service and pray that God would change them and make them into what HE wants. God bless our dads! Also, for the record, we had a good Sunday evening crowd. The testimonies, music, puppets, and sermon on "A Dying Man's Testimony" were all a blessing.

This morning, I want to share about Pastor Don's ant problem. I got up early Sunday morning and discovered a few ants on the brick paver steps to our patio door. I went and got the broom to try and sweep them off, but that only stirred them up all the more. Before I knew it there were ants everywhere. I tried to keep our Yorkie out of them and went and got some ant spray. To be honest, I was deadly. Every spray seemed to kill dozens of them, but they just kept coming. I finally gave up and got ready for Sunday School. When I checked the steps and patio after church, they were pretty much gone.

What amazed me was the tenacity and persistence of those ants. Ants know what team work is. I have seen tiny ants gather around a large crumb, or a dead bug, and drag it off and pull it into their hole. It seems when they have a goal, nothing deters them. They might have an interruption, like my broom or spray, but they get right back to it! They keep the focus on the goal! They are determined!

This was a good reminder, for God's Word says that we should consider the ant. It also reminds me of my walk with Christ and what Paul said in Phil. 3:14, " I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."

Those ants remind me on this Monday to stay focused on my goal in life, to keep first things first, and to persevere to the end. I hope you have a great week serving Jesus.

Till next time, Pastor Don

P.S. Next Sunday night the teens will have a camp fundraiser by serving ice cream after the evening service. All I know is that it has been hot enough for ice cream every night. Come prepared and let's have some ice cream.

P.S.S. JOKE OF THE WEEK: DUST

On the way home from church a little boy asked his mother, "Is it true, Mommy, that we are made of dust?"

"Yes, darling."

"And do we go back to dust again when we die?"

"Yes, dear, Why do you ask?"

"Well, Mommy, when I said my prayers last night and looked under my bed, I found someone who is either coming or going."
