Good Morning Everyone,
It is sure good to see signs of spring. It is
supposed to be around 71 degrees today with some
rain. We had a great day at God's house
yesterday. I enjoyed preaching on the "Power of
the Cross." We were blessed Sunday night to have
missionary Roxanne Alexander share with us about
what God is doing in the Ukraine. She was an
excellent speaker and had a passion for the
Lord's work.
I want to ask you a simple question today. Are
you Jesus? No, of course not, but I remember
reading this true story probably 3 or 4 years
ago and it reinforces what our missionary shared
with us Sunday night. After their meeting ran
late, five out-of-town salesmen hurried as fast
as they could to catch their train. As they
raced through the Amtrack terminal, one
inadvertently kicked over a slender table on
which rested a basket of apples. It belonged to
a 10 yr old blind boy who was selling apples to
pay for his books and clothes for school. The
salesmen jumped aboard the train, but one felt
compassion for the boy. He asked his friends to
call his wife and tell her he would be late
getting home. Then he jumped off the train and
returned to where the boy was standing.
As the salesman gathered up the apples scattered
across the floor, he noticed that several were
bruised or split. Reaching into his pocket, he
said to the boy, "Here's twenty dollars for the
apples we damaged. I hope we didn't spoil your
day. God bless you." As he walked away, the boy
called after him, "Are you Jesus?"
What a beautiful and touching story. I believe
we are most like Christ when we show compassion
and generosity to others. Jesus said, "Whatever
you did for one of the least of these brothers
of mine, you did it for me." (Matthew 25:40)
Another verse Paul mentions is I Timothy 6:18,
"Command them to do good, to be rich in good
deeds, and be generous and willing to share."
Can we reflect the character of Jesus this week?
My plans are to be Jesus to someone. Will you do
the same?
Till next time, God bless . . . . . . Pastor Don
