NEWSLETTER ARCHIVE

Good Morning Church and Friends of South Flint,

We are a blessed people and really had a good time in the Lord yesterday. Our Sunday School continues to grow. We had 127 in attendance and have grown about 48% in the past year. In worship, we had 156 in attendance and a wonderful time praising the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Thanks to all of you for making Sunday School and Worship a priority. I am believing God for the greatest year of ministry South Flint has seen in many year. I say that in faith and refuse to doubt because doubters receive nothing from the Lord.

For a thought this morning I want to look at Psalm 127:1-2. "Unless the Lord builds the house, its builders labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchmen stand guard in vain. In vain you rise early and stay up late, toiling for food. For He grants sleep to those He loves." God has called us to build -- our lives, our homes, our churches, and the Kingdom of God everywhere. We sing a song that says, "Little is much when God is in it," but also, much is nothing if God is not in it. This Psalm says we labor in vain when we build on our own. Unless the Lord guards the city, or your home, or your life, you are guarding it in vain; and it is vain to rise up early, to sit up late, toiling for food to eat. Three times the Psalmist uses the word vain. That speaks to me of the fact that everything is useless and deceptive unless God is in it. Everything is dependent upon Him and His blessings. It is useless to push, push, push, and work, work, work. God wants us resting in Him and not stressing out. Each day will bring its share of responsibilities and troubles. There is rest and even peaceful sleep for the child of God.

So I say to you in closing, God is surely helping us build His church. Our security lies in the Lord; and it is vain to get up early, to cram the day with activities, to retire late, and to see each day as a day of "painful labor," only to repeat the cycle again. "This is the day the Lord has made." Remembering that will help you be blessed and not stressed. I hope you have a great week and may your work be enjoyed and not a burden to endure.

Till next time, Pastor Don

P.S. This Sunday night we have a special service with career missionary Roxanne Alexander from the Ukraine. It will be a great time to come and learn about the work of the Lord in Russia. Hope to see you there.

P.S.S. FOOD FOR THOUGHT:

Part time faith, like a part time job can't fully support you.
