Good Morning Everyone,
Greetings in Jesus' name! I sense Spring is in
the air. The forecast for Tuesday is 60 degrees.
That should make all of us Michigan people
happy. My report to you today is that we had a
great Sunday. Worship attendance was 145 with 91
people staying for our all-church dinner after
the morning service. Our two Sunday night
classes on Evangelism and Holiness are going
well. Starting this Sunday night in the
sanctuary, I will begin a study on the book of
James. It is entitled, "Studies in James, How to
Mature in Christ." You can prepare yourself by
reading James Chapter 1 this week. Thanks,
Pastor Sarah, for preaching a wonderful message
on Abraham and how his obedience pleased God. I
am blessed with such a great staff of pastors
that can preach God's Word.
I want to give you a couple verses of scripture
to think about this week. They are found in II
Timothy 1:6-7. Paul said to Timothy, "Therefore
I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is
in you through the laying on of my hands. For
God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of
power, and of love, and of a sound mind." The
Apostle Paul is reminding and encouraging
Timothy that he needs to stir up the gift of God
that is in him. He also tells him that he
remembers laying hands on him, and that Timothy
had received the Holy Spirit.
If you are a spirit-filled believer, these same
words apply to you. It's time to stir up the
gift that is in you. It's time for you to quit
being fearful. The world is fearful because the
only power they have is in their own natural
strength. We can be strong in a power that is
working in us. It's a supernatural power. It's a
keeping and overcoming power. You don't have to
live in fear. Fear will destroy you, and it is
the opposite of faith. The child of God is full
of faith and lives everyday by faith.
So my advice to you is, don't lean on the flesh,
but stay in the Spirit. Refuse to live in fear,
instead get stronger and stronger in the Lord.
And remember, when the devil comes against you,
God has not given you a spirit of fear. You have
been given a spirit of power, and of love, and a
sound mind. Don't forget that. Also, there is no
power shortage with God church.
Have a victorious week walking in His power.
Till next time, Pastor Don
P.S. Please keep Ruth Schultz (battling cancer)
and Jim Presley (in ICU at McLaren Hospital)
near your heart and in your prayers. They both
need the prayers of God's people. Keep praying
for Dan Barkman with the loss of his wife,
Diane. We took a love offering for Dan today. If
you would like to be a part of that, you can do
so this week. He has been out of work for
several weeks taking care of Diane. We can be a
blessing to him.
