NEWSLETTER ARCHIVE

Good Morning Church Family,

Greetings on the greatest day of your life. I say that because yesterday is already gone and we don't know if tomorrow will come, so this is a day of importance in our lives. It's good to be home and back from the South. I actually left Wednesday night and went to Chattanooga with 2 of my shooting friends. We just hung out, shot, and fellowshipped for about 3 days. My friend Gary Burton, is becoming more and more of a shooter. If Gary keeps getting better, your pastor may be the number 2 guy at South Flint!

I appreciated Pastor Nathan and Pastor Karren filling in for me while I was gone. I heard good things about Nathan's message. It was about the scriptural evidence of being born again. Pastor Karren spoke on the peace that Jesus gives. Praise God we serve the Prince of Peace! One thing Karren said last night is this, "With complete surrender comes perfect peace." I want you to know your pastor believes that for sure. God wants to give you His peace.

For a thought this morning I read recently that February is National Heart month. We can never be reminded too often about the importance of the human heart. Just think about your heart. This organ, about the size of your fist, pumps blood through your body every second of every day and keeps on ticking year after year. If you keep it in good shape it can run for years and years without the need of tuneup or repair. The heart has been a symbol for romance, love, compassion, courage, fortitude and hope for centuries. It is an amazing creation that shows evidence that we are wonderfully made" by God, as the Psalmist says.

We often hear the phrase, "Use your head." But I would encourage us during this National Heart month to also use your hearts. For a little health tip from your pastor, let's keep our hearts healthy by exercising, eating a heart-healthy diet, and maintaining our proper weight so that our hearts don't work too hard.

I was also thinking that in the Psalms God says His law is written on our hearts. I believe that everything God wants us to do and be, He has planted within our hearts. We know what we should do and must do. It is things like to love our neighbor as ourselves, live by His Word, have the courage of our convictions, and express our love to those who need to hear us say so. Jesus said the greatest commandment is to love the Lord our God with all our hearts. Imagine what kind of world we would be living in if everyone lived by that commandment. Let's all use our hearts this week. If you do, I guarantee better health and a heart-warming experience.

Till next time, Pastor Don

P.S. Don't forget this coming Sunday is Membership Sunday and also Church Elections.

Two prayer request for this week - Tom Erickson's father passed away Saturday morning and Naomi's Card's father passed away Saturday morning also. Please keep these families in your prayers.

P.S.S. JOKE OF THE WEEK

A bus carrying only ugly people crashes into an oncoming truck, and everyone inside dies.

As they stand at the Pearly Gates waiting to enter Paradise and meet their maker, God decides to grant each person one wish because of the grief they have experienced.

They're all lined up, and God asks the first one what the wish is. "I want to be gorgeous." So God snaps His fingers, and its done.

The second one in line hears this and says "I want to be gorgeous too." Another snap of His fingers and the wish is granted.

This goes on for a while with each one asking to be gorgeous, but when God is halfway down the line, the last guy in the line starts laughing.

When there are only ten people left, this guy is rolling on the floor, laughing his head off. Finally, God reaches this last guy and asks him what his wish will be.

The guy eventually calms down and says: "Make 'em all ugly again".

NEXT TIME YOU'RE LAST IN LINE . . BE HAPPY.
