NEWSLETTER ARCHIVE

Good Morning Church,

I greet you on this frigid Monday morning. I want all those who receive this newsletter to know it is about 6 below this morning with a wind chill of 22 below. I kind of envy the people from South Flint who have headed out for Florida and Arizona in the past couple weeks.

Well, we made it through the Super Bowl weekend. Actually, we had very good attendance despite the deep freeze. I told Susan I doubted we would have 100 in morning worship, and low and behold, we had 125. Praise the Lord! The Sunday night service was well attended. Following the service about 40 of us stayed and ate together and watched some football. Thanks to John Walters and his family for bringing in the chili, hot dogs, and all the good food. We had a feast. I was thinking how important that game was to so many people. Statistics tell us the Super Bowl cost $379 million dollars. Over $5 billion was spent on gambling on the game. $6 million was spent on security and over 1 billion people watched the game world-wide. It is the one event that sure grabs people's attention. And even as I think about all that, the Lord Jesus Christ and His one solitary life has had a greater influence, and changed more lives than all the Super Bowls put together. I personally wouldn't pay $500 for a good seat at any Super Bowl, but I would give $500 to God's work. That kind of investment is something you will never lose. Think about that this week.

This Saturday is our 2nd annual Men's Wild Game Dinner. It is the one big event that brings our men together for a great evening of food, fellowship, devotions and fun. If you haven't got your ticket yet, I recommend you do so soon. My 2-year pastoral review with the church board and our district superintendent will be Thursday night. I will keep you posted as to the outcome. Don't forget that church elections will be February 25th and that will also be membership Sunday. We have certainly had a wonderful year and 39 new members have joined South Flint this past year. Let's keep up the good work. God has certainly blessed us and He wants us to go out and be a blessing to someone.

Have a great week and do your best to stay warm. With all the talk of global warming, your pastor will be looking for some this week.

Till next time, Pastor Don
