Good Morning Everyone,
As you are reading this, I am on my way to Fish
Point on Saginaw Bay to duck hunt. I've been
looking forward to this day for a long time. I
am with my friend DeWayne Stone and we hope to
shoot some ducks and geese for our wild game
dinner in February. We had really good services
yesterday and the spirit of revival continues.
We awarded the Distinguished Service Award to
Paul Graham. What a blessing for your pastor to
give this special recognition to a man who has
served and worked for the Lord faithfully for so
many years. I enjoyed preaching in both services
and was glad to see many at our altars both
morning and evening doing business with God. I
always feel you get out of services what you put
into them and your attitude is so important. Let
me prove my point to you through a story I read
recently.
Jim Smith went to church on Sunday morning. He
heard the organist miss a note during the
prelude, and he winced. He saw a teenager
talking during the prayer time when everyone's
head was bowed and thought it was awful. He felt
like the usher was watching to see what he put
in the offering plate, and that made him upset.
He caught the preacher make a slip of the tongue
two or three times in the sermon by actual
count. As he slipped out through the side door
during the closing hymn, he muttered to himself,
"What a joke. These people are a bunch of clods
that need to get their act together."
Ron Jones went to church on Sunday morning. He
heard the organist play an arrangement of "A
Mighty Fortress," and he was thrilled by the
majesty of it. He heard a young girl take a
moment in the service to speak a simple moving
message of the difference faith had made in her
life. He was glad to see that his church was
sharing in a special offering for the hungry
children of Nigeria. He especially appreciated
the sermon by the pastor that Sunday. It
answered a question that had bothered him for a
long time. He thought, as he walked out the
doors of the church, "How can a man come here
and not feel the presence of God?"
Both men went to the same church on the same
Sunday morning. And you know what? Each found
what he was looking for. Think about that the
next time you sit in a worship service. That's
it for this Monday morning. Your staff wishes
you a great week and don't forget, ATTITUDE
MAKES ALL THE DIFFERENCE!
Till next time, Pastor Don
P.S. Sorry no joke this week. If you have a good
one, I would love to hear it from you.
