Good Morning Church Family,

It's a beautiful day here in Burton with a temperature of about 54 degrees. I sense Fall in the air. It's always good to greet you on Monday morning and share thoughts for the week. This is the Labor Day weekend, and in spite of being down in attendance, we were not down in Spirit and God moving in our midst. We had victories at the altar in both services and the moving of God was very real. My prayer is that my message on "Spiritual Warfare" will become a part of you and that we will work together to pull down Satan's strongholds, unmask his intentions, and order his retreat.

I was blessed Sunday night to have one of our young preacher boys, Shawn Kidle, share the Word of God with us. For only being 20 yrs old, I think Shawn preached beyond his years. He did an excellent job with a great message on the Holy Spirit and the changes He will make in your life. I am thrilled that we are raising up Champions for God at South Flint. And as Pastor Shawn preached, if you are filled with the Spirit, there will be a difference.

Tomorrow, school will begin for most of the kids in our church. I know some are excited to get back and some will be hiding under the bed hoping their parents forget about it. One of the positive things about tomorrow is most kids get some new school clothes and a backpack filled with school supplies. For me, I've come to understand something about school. It's never out. You heard me correctly. I don't know at what point in your life you learn that lesson, but somewhere along the way it finally dawns on you. Psalm 90:12 says, "Teach us to make the most of our time so that we may grow in wisdom." (NLT) There is wisdom staying in God's school of learning, and great satisfaction too. As long as we cultivate a teachable spirit in our lives, God will instruct us with something every day we are alive. So to all the kids, have a great week at school. It could be worse - you could be walking to school, 5 miles in a snow storm, uphill all the way. Sounds like the good old days to me. Have a great week. Serving Jesus is the best.

Till next time, Pastor Don

P.S. Staff and Department Heads, your reports are due in the office by Thursday morning at the latest. Sunday School Board meeting is Thursday night at 7pm, and we will be taking in new members at the very beginning of the service this Sunday.

P.S.S. Food For Thought: Do you want to make God laugh, begin to tell Him your plans!
