Good Morning South Flint Family,
Greetings on this beautiful Monday morning. It's
just good to be alive and serving our Lord and
Savior. It's a wonderful thing to know HIM and
to be enjoying PEACE when the world is searching
so desperately for it. I hope you enjoyed our
special singer yesterday, Kirk Talley. He
sang to honor our Lord and shared many of his
own original songs. I heard lots of good,
positive comments about his ministry to South
Flint. Last night we shared a message entitled,
"Resist Not, Grieve Not, and Quench Not." We
have an awesome responsibility to be led by
God's Spirit and to be obedient to His leading.
When the spirit of obedience prevails in God's
people, the whole church prospers and
flourishes.
This morning I share one verse of scripture with
you. It is found in Luke 9:62 (NIV), "No one who
puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit
for service in the kingdom of God." Jesus is
saying once you put your hand to the plow of
discipleship, you cannot look back or have
second thoughts. The discipleship the Lord
demands is costly. People who are made up of
half-hearted stuff and mushy sentimentality
probably won't make it. We need to make up our
minds that we will be invincible and victorious
for the Lord. Christ must be first and all other
loves and loyalties must be secondary. It's like
the Apostle Paul said, "I forget about those
things which are behind and I reach forth unto
those things which are ahead." That's my plan
for this week and I hope it is yours too. May
our Heavenly Father bless each of you in
abundance. Till next time, Pastor Don
P.S. Don't forget Membership Class begins this
Sunday at 9:45am in Pastor Don's office, and
Sunday night our Youth Pastor, Sarah
Brackenridge will be preaching for her first
time at South Flint. Let's support her with our
prayers and attendance.
THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK: A MAN WHO LIVES RIGHT, AND
IS RIGHT, HAS MORE POWER IN HIS SILENCE THAN
ANOTHER BY HIS WORDS.
