Good Morning Church,
As always, it's a joy for your pastor to come to
you on Monday mornings with news, prayer
requests, and thoughts to help you start your
week out. There is a song we use to sing at my
last church that says, "Look what God is doing,
all across the land." I want to say to you this
morning "Look at our church and see what God is
doing." We just came through a wonderful week.
It was our "5th Annual Camp-Out" and what a time
we had. The service Friday night began with
wonderful praise to our Lord. The trio sang "I'm
Saved to the Uttermost," and then Rev. Larry
Betz blessed our hearts with a special message
out of Psalm 25. Later around the camp fire we
shared in the Lord's Supper, and then had
hotdogs, roasted marshmallows, and good
fellowship. Saturday was a fun filled day that
started out with early morning prayer, breakfast
together, and then many different activities.
Everyone had fun with the Putt-Putt golf
tournament, the Go-Kart races, and then we
joined in the fellowship hall as the "Fry Guys
(Don and Andrew) fried fish and fries. Following
that was our "Saturday Night Live" service. It
was South Flint's own talent night. What fun,
and also what blessings we enjoyed! We topped
the whole weekend off with a great Sunday
morning worship service that had 145 in
attendance. This was truly a great time in
bringing our church family together.
I want to thank Gary Burton for starting the
camp-out 5 yrs ago. It keeps getting better and
better each year. We had so many new families
camping with us this year, and truly the Lord is
blessing our church. Thanks to all who worked,
helped, and had a part. Some more good news is
that we had 24 kids in Junior church yesterday!
To top it off, at the conclusion of the service,
I discovered we almost have all the money raised
for our work and witness trip. To God be the
Glory!
You might start believing you have a happy
pastor on your hands, and you do. For a simple
thought this morning, I share one verse from
Joshua, Chapter 1. God told Joshua, "Don't be
terrified, and do not be discouraged. I am the
Lord your God and I will be with you wherever
you go." That is my message to all of you this
morning. We are like the children of Israel. God
has called us to move out for Him and take
possession of new territory. I need all of you
to help me in the conquest. My message to you is
be strong and be courageous. We can do it. When
other churches are struggling, losing numbers,
and even dying, we are on the move. God has new
territory for South Flint Nazarene, and I
encourage each of you to march with me for God
has said, "Every place where you set your foot,
it shall be thy possession." On this Monday
morning, I choose to believe God and be
courageous for Him. God's army is volunteer, and
the work is hard, but the benefits as someone
said, ARE OUT OF THIS WORLD. Have a great week
in the service of the King.
Till next time, Pastor Don
P.S. Softball Playoff Games start Tuesday night,
6pm at Calvary Presbyterian. Please come and
cheer our team on. Also, next Sunday please
bring a friend for the Kirk Talley Concert at
11am. It will be a special service you won't
want to miss.
