Good Morning Everyone,

It's nice to greet you on this brisk October morning. Yesterday, we celebrated our 100th Anniversary as a denomination. What a great day it was! If you did not worship with us, then you missed a very special service. Thanks to all who had a part. The kids did a wonderful job singing and sharing facts about the Church of the Nazarene. The video Danny Caldwell produced for the teens helped me understand our generational differences. Thanks to Andrew Frey for directing our choir and to Bonnie Caldwell and all three pastors for sharing a great message about our calling as a denomination. Pictures were taken of the service and we will have them up on the website before the week is over. And lest I forget, thanks to all the ladies in the kitchen for organizing, preparing, and bringing in a lot of great food. The dinner was wonderful!

I believe this morning that the future is ours. The church of Jesus Christ has always flourished in the tough times. Yes, the economy is bad and our finances are shaky, but our God is as solid as a rock. We must continue to walk by faith and believe that God wants to use us. Your pastor is ready for a spiritual breakthrough. Next month will be our fall revival with Rev. & Mrs. Duane Smith. I am praying and believing that God is really going to do a dynamic work among us. I'm ready to see it happen. The dates are November 19th - 23rd.

I was reading a story today about football great, John Elway. John Elway was for many years the quarterback of the Denver Broncos. Although he was a great quarterback, his team was not that great. So year after year they experienced losing seasons and humiliation, while he endured numerous injuries. All of his efforts and faithfulness seemed to be useless. Despite their situation, John Elway did not retire but kept on enduring the pain and the failure of football. Why did he keep going? Because he had faith for the future! He believed that eventually his faith would pay off and that they would win the Super Bowl. His belief was realized in 1998 when the Denver Broncos won Super Bowl 32. If he had not had faith for the future, he would of missed that experience.

I want you to know that without a doubt I have faith for our future at South Flint. We must have faith for the future if we are going to experience the fullness of all God's promises. We will experience difficulties along the way. Often there will be very little to show for our years of faith in God. But then God shows up and blesses beyond our expectations. That is what I am believing God for. Abraham had that type of faith. Moses had that type of faith. Daniel had that type of faith, and I want you to have it too.

Our future is bright and I do believe in things I cannot see. I encourage you to be faithful, do everything God asks you to do, and work hard and pray for your pastor. God always blesses faithfulness. Have a great week and keep your eyes on Jesus.

Till next time, Pastor Don

P.S. You don't want to miss next Sunday night's service. It is entitled, "I Have a Question." You have been dropping your questions in the question box for the last few weeks. We will do our best to give you some answers next Sunday night.

P.S.S. CARTOON OF THE WEEK: Thought provoking isn't it?
